They discuss a report by the Inspector General that the state gave out over $25 million in welfare benefits to ineligible recipients, and the subsequent resignation of DTA head Daniel Curley. Mary calls for a top-down review, noting the agency “lacks the basic checks and balances that you need when you are in control of taxpayers’ money. These numbers are unacceptable.” Mary continues, “The federal government wants the money back. Where’s that money going to come from? The answer is: Our pockets.” She called for an independent review.
