Mass. Women’s Political Caucus to honor Brookline’s Jim Stergios as a ‘Good Guy’
The Massachusetts Women’s Political Caucus has announced that Brookline resident Jim Stergios, executive director of Pioneer Institute, will be honored at the 11th annual Good Guys Awards for his efforts to increase the civic engagement of women, and for recognizing the importance of quality education in improving the lives of women and their families by creating greater opportunities for the next generation.
At Pioneer Institute, Stergios has worked to amplify the voices of women in policy decisions through in-depth research, policy proposals and support of innovative Pioneer Institute programs. One of the major areas through which he has done this is education reform. In his “Rock the Schoolhouse” blog, he regularly analyzes the state’s education system and offers alternative policies that provide schools with the resources they need to better serve their students.
Stergios will be honored at the awards luncheon on Friday, March 16, at the Fairmont Copley Plaza from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Other honorees include Mayor Thomas M. Menino; Majority Whip Byron Rushing; John Hailer, president and CEO of Natixis Global Asset Management; John Heerwagen, chairman, president and CEO of Middlesex Savings Bank; and Philip W. Johnston, founder and president of Johnston Associates who will be awarded this year’s Senator Edward M. Kennedy Lifetime Achievement Award recipient
