In the months leading up to the Supreme Court’s decision on the constitutionality of the ACA we published a healthcare policy book, The Great Experiment, and aggressively promoted its message in print, on national television, and talk radio around the country. Our work drew attention from nationally syndicated columnists Cal Thomas and Debra Saunders, the Wall Street Journal‘s Kim Strassel, Fox News, and so many others. And in Massachusetts, we published a report on the ACA’s financial impact on the middle class, that was cited in the US Senate debate.
Our featured event speakers included Dr. Don Berwick, who discussed the future of Medicaid and Medicare at our annual Hewitt Healthcare Lecture, national political analyst Michael Barone, who addressed our Better Government Competition, and Dr. Deepak Srivastava of the Gladstone Institutes, who presented his path-breaking research in regenerative medicine, at our Lovett C. Peters Lecture.
Throughout the year, we held public forums on education policy, high academic standards, and school choice featuring experts in both content and policy: Ron Powers and Jocelyn Chadwick, Mark Twain scholars; Jeff Shesol, Clinton White House speechwriter and FDR biographer; Kevin Chavous and Jay Greene, national school choice advocates; Susan Patrick and Julie Young, national leaders in the virtual schools movement; and so many more.
