Internships and Research Assistantships at Pioneer

Internships

Interns typically are college students or recent graduates at the very start of their chosen career – or individuals with a strong educational record who want to explore a new career track. They collaborate with our senior staff in core organizational functions such as media and public relations, development and institutional outreach. Some of the tasks that interns have been involved in include:

– Producing promotional videos for the web;

– Organizational research regarding donor relationships and media strategy;

– Organizing key events such as the annual Better Government Competition;

– Drafting op-eds and press releases;

– Designing donor materials and writing outreach letters;

– Creating blurbs for social media and the Pioneer website;

– Legal and historical research;

– Other related activities.

Research Assistantships

Research assistantships are best suited for college seniors or graduates, graduate students and young professionals who already have some experience in a particular area of research. Participants provide critical input to ongoing research projects and occasionally may even lead their own designated research project under the supervision of one of our senior fellows or regular contributors. Depending on our current needs and the participant’s qualifications and career objectives, s/he may work on a specific project, within an entire policy area or across several research portfolios — on tasks ranging from data collection to research design to media releases.

Our terms of engagement are flexible, so they can be particularly attractive for college seniors and graduate students seeking to gain important practical experience while maintaining a busy school schedule. Previous participants have often outgrown their initial roles and been able to discover and explore new areas of interest. We aim to hire the most exceptional individuals, so we strive to provide opportunities that are at least as exceptional. We take particular pride in making sure participants get the very best out of their time at Pioneer.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. For current openings please subscribe to our updates and follow us on Twitter and Facebook.
