Alfred D. Houston was chairman of New England Electric System (NEES).  He also served as Chairman of New England Power Company, a subsidiary of NEES. Mr. Houston was Chairman of National Grid USA.  Previously, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of NEES.  

He was chairman of the board of The Boston Conservatory and the Harvard Medical School Genetics Advisory Council.  He was President of the University of Pennsylvania Club of Boston.   

Mr. Houston served on the board of directors of New England Power Company, Arkwright Insurance, FM Global, Harvard Medical School, Nichols College, Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, the Massachusetts Business Roundtable and Pioneer Institute. Mr. Houston currently serves on Pioneer Institute’s Audit and Finance committees. 

Mr. Houston is a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
