David N. Bernstein
David N. Bernstein, MD, PhD, MBA, MEI is an orthopaedic surgery resident in the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program (HCORP) and a senior researcher at Harvard Business School, collaborating with Professors Michael E. Porter and Robert S. Kaplan to improve health care delivery systems. He is also a Visiting Professor at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary.
A prolific health services scientist and sought-after global opinion leader, David advises numerous organizations, think tanks, and government agencies on health care transformation. A former National Academy of Medicine (NAM) fellow and invite-only Emerging Leaders Forum participant, he has published over 130 scientific manuscripts, co-authored pieces in outlets like Harvard Business Review and The Boston Globe, and contributed to reports for the World Economic Forum and G20.
David received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) with Distinction in Research from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in value-based health care from the University of Leiden in The Netherlands, and Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Simon Business School at the University of Rochester, where he was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society. In addition, he holds his Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation with Distinction from the University of Luxembourg as a Fulbright Scholar. His Bachelor of Arts (AB) in Economics is from Bowdoin College.
