"The Power of the US Supreme Court: A Civics Lesson" Featuring presidential historians Willard Sterne Randall and Jeff Shesol Thursday, May 10, 2012 — 3:00 - 6:00 pm Omni Parker House, 60 School Street, Boston, MA Willard Sterne Randall is an American historian and author who specializes in biographies related to the American Revolution and the Founding Era. He teaches American history at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. Jeff Shesol is the author of Supreme Power: Franklin Roosevelt vs. the Supreme Court and Mutual Contempt: Lyndon Johnson, Robert Kennedy, and the Feud That Defined a Decade. He was a presidential speechwriter in the Clinton administration. David Paleologos is the director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, where in partnership with WHDH-TV Boston (NBC News) and WSVN-TV Miami (FOX News), he conducts statewide polls and bellwether survey analyses in Massachusetts and elsewhere. Public policy polling data on US history MCAS will be released at this event. A panel of experts will also discuss the proper role of US history-civics in K-12 schooling in Massachusetts and the nation. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
